Well, that first round of baby food lasted me a little over three months! Benjamin absolutely loved each and every one of the recipes I made last time! He and I spent the entire long weekend making a second round of baby foods for him to enjoy. All the recipes that we made this week came from the book “Sprout Right” by Lianne Phillipson-Webb*. I just want to say, that ‘by the book parenting’ isn’t really my style… at all. But this book was given to me second-hand from a family member and there’s some pretty great recipes at the end. I honestly didn’t read anything in the book except for the recipes… but I mean, if you have the time, knock yourself out! All of these recipes are also much chunkier than the previous purées I have posted, so make sure that your baby is ready for them before you begin!
In addition to the mashes, we also made a pretty hefty freezer supply of finger foods! Simply clean, peel, and chop vegetables (we used carrots, green beans, asparagus, cauliflower, broccoli, beets, and peas), and then steam until they are tender! Place a piece of parchment paper over a baking sheet and freeze the steamed veggies. I chose to store them in labelled mason jars in the freezer. They don’t take long to defrost and it’s a healthy little snack for your little one that also helps develop their motor skills! I also give him those ‘puffs’ you buy at the grocery store but I feel like those are almost supposed to be given as a treat like a cookie?
Disclaimer: I’m not sure if Benjamin is sick or it’s a side effect of all this super healthy food, but holy moly have giant poops become a frequent occurrence in my home! Good luck moms & pops!
